A Freshmen Reflection on Semester Completed

As a freshman, I have only been at Central Catholic for a little over a semester. However, within that small window of time, my perception of what Central Catholic is has drastically changed.

Ever since I was able to comprehend anything, I knew that Central would be the high school I would be going to. Between then and before the beginning of this year, I had developed an idea of what Central was like. My idea is difficult to explain in words, but I’ll try my best. I had always imagined Central being this big and mighty school where discipline and academics were heavily enforced. Now that I attend Central, I now realize that that is not the case. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that Central is not what it’s all cracked up to be, I just now realize that the rules are not as strict as I once thought.

Another changed perception of mine is not necessarily of Central Catholic specifically, it is of high school in general. I thought high school was this very segregated place. Freshman stay with the freshman, sophomores, stay with the sophomores, juniors with juniors, and seniors with seniors. However, Central, specifically, has taught me that is not necessarily true. I mean, there is still one segregation, to a degree, but each grade is not totally secluded from another. All four grades, in a way, are intertwined with each other to form one school community. Where it be in school, sports, or extracurricular activities, all four grades socialize with one another. These different ways is what makes Central Catholic a different kind of school. It is what altered my opinion on both what high school is and my perception on what Central Catholic High School is as a whole.
