Parking in Central’s Lot

Central’s parking lot can be a tough place to maneuver during 7:30 – 7:45 and 2:30-3pm.

Central Catholic’s parking lot is home to a great abundance of vehicles during school hours. For those of you who park in this lot, you experience a daily routine of finding a good spot and making sure not to hit any other vehicles.

Your ability to avoid collision depends on your speed, your awareness, and your ability to park in tight areas.

Parking in tight spots can be relatively painless for those of us who drive smaller vehicles, but it can be a bit challenging for people with bigger vehicles. You always want to be aware of the space your giving people on both sides of your vehicle. Always keep in mind that they may need to enter their vehicles, so you want to be sure that you offer them the space to do so.

Another thing to keep in mind while you are parking is the angle in which you maneuver your vehicle into the spot. It’s best to take as wide of an approach as possible so that your are able to have lots of room to move. Even if you pull in and your vehicle is taking up to much space, you can always back straight out and properly align yourself.

Of course, this process can be much simpler for those of us that drive small vehicles. Smaller vehicles give us the advantage when it comes to maneuvering not only into parking spots, but maneuvering the lot in general. Although smaller vehicles are easier to park, bigger vehicles have their advantages.

They often have the advantage of censors and backup cameras so that you can see exactly how close you are to someone else. Smaller vehicles offer the advantage of censors and backup cameras, but they often are only offered in newer model vehicles.

Although these advantages offer a lot of help, you should still be able to park your vehicle without utilizing them. Although many of us may find it to be rather challenging to park in the lot, many of us continue to do it on a daily basis.

The best thing to always remember while parking or driving in the lot is to keep it slow, and always beware where other vehicles and students are traveling. Drive safely and always remember to be aware of your surroundings.
