Taylor Swift’s Evermore Album Review

Taylor Swift’s new album Evermore is already one of the hottest albums released during the pandemic. Evermore is Swift’s second surprise album in less than a year, shocking fans new and old with an interesting shakeup of sounds that we are not accustomed to.

Her album comes out soft and lively embracing her vocal maturity with a range of spectacular pieces while bringing back a pop-country style from her early days as an artist.

Evermore begins with her most widely acclaimed song, “willow,” and it sets the tone for the rest of the album. She sings about how she is swept off her feet by the “wind” of a new lover. The wind sweeping through her like it to a willow’s leaves.

It is followed by “champagne problems” and “gold rush” continuing her momentum from “willow.”

These are followed by a return to her classic style: pop-country. The sounds from this album return her to her roots as an artist as a young girl crashing onto the scene with her self-titled debut in 2006.

Evermore brings the same passion we heard and loved from Taylor early on, and “no body,” “no crime,” “dorothea,” and “cowboy like me” show her return to her original pop-country style, while still bringing the same Taylor energy we now know and love. All this while still singing about her classic themes of love, heartbreak, and happiness.

Her newfound vocal maturity is also like nothing we have heard from her before. She allowed herself to reach a new high of vocal range and clarity while still having the same crisp sound that has carried her throughout her career.

One of the more underrated but well-crafted songs on the album falls towards the end, late enough where many might miss it if only streaming certain songs.

“long story short” is an upbeat song about surviving relationships through bad timing, and realizing that she is truly crazy about the man in the song. It is a must-listen for every Swiftie.

Overall, this album is the best we have seen from Taylor Swift since 1989, her 2014 album. She displays a tone of vocal maturity and a sound that we have not seen from her since her teenage years.

Evermore brings everything that we want and more to the table, and the fact that this is her second studio album in this pandemic year is a testament to her love of music.

These albums are now available on Apple Music and Spotify, as well as in hard copy form on cassette and CD. Listen now to Taylor’s new album and join in on the excitement.
