President Biden’s Inauguration Speech Creates Hope for a Trumped Country

Unity was a key theme in President Biden’s inaugural speech because of the divisiveness ever present in our country. A rise of different beliefs and opinions has caused division within America.

Political beliefs have been aligned with the personalities of the politician because of the words and actions of our former president, Donald Trump.

Trump’s name-calling, harassing, and stirring up of distrust of our governmental system has been imitated by his supporters, who attempted an insurrection to stop our democracy on January 6, 2021.

Currently, we are not the United States but the divided states. The inability for Americans to look past people’s beliefs has also caused this division.

Biden also voiced that unity was the only answer to the challenges ahead, which are the ongoing pandemic, racial injustice, and climate change. I agree with this statement because this is one of the toughest times, and we need to unite and defeat these issues.

To be a President for all Americans will be Biden’s duty, and he acknowledged that he will be the leader even for the people who didn’t vote for him.

This is a simple statement, but one that Trump had never exercised because of the public hatred he held for Democrats.

However, Biden told supporters of other candidates to deal with the results, as this was a fair election, not a stolen one as former President Trump says.

We need each other more than ever because of the fear we carry for the future. This has been an unexpected year with struggles at every phase, and this is the time to begin to exercise trust for our elected leaders.

Former President Donald Trump’s inability to encourage Americans to exercise caution during the global pandemic has caused over 400,000 deaths from the novel coronavirus.

Lying to the people of America by saying that this virus will go away has caused political division in our management of the virus.

Dealing with this pandemic will be one of Biden’s first actions as President and to disapprove of the division it has caused in the political realm.

Human lives should not be politicized, but be cared for by our Democratic and Republican leaders. Biden’s prayer for the people who have been affected by the pandemic was deeply needed, as Trump never truly recognized the pandemic.

The racial inequality that continues to affect the advancement of minority groups is still one of the major issues in 2021. President Biden voiced his opinion for social change in America, however, I do not believe he touched on the issue enough during his speech.

I was glad to hear that he is committed to being a part of the change, but he gave no details on his plan.

As a Senator from Delaware in the 1980s, President Biden was in favor of multiple racist policies and I hope he can show the American people that his views have changed.

Racism still exists today in America, and it will be President Biden’s job to stop the spread of hate in this country.

President Biden’s presidency comes at a perfect time for the American people who have been deceived and lied to by Former President Donald Trump. Repairing this country starts with repairing unity and Biden must be committed to doing so.
