Pray 4 Love Review

Pray 4 Love Review

Pray 4 Love is a beautiful album ranging from sad songs to songs about real life, including rather upbeat songs, all sung by St. Petersburg’s own Rod Wave. This album is my personal favorite, not only by Rod Wave but by any artist.

The album follows mainly a “soul rap” vibe, but consists of other genres of rap. However, before you listen to this album, be aware that the language is inappropriate and that all songs are explicit.

The all-star album includes features from Yo Gotti, ATR son son, and Atlanta star Lil Baby. The majority of songs on Pray 4 Love are about life’s problems and first-world problems the artist himself Rod Wave dealt with in his life.

The content consists of stories about growing up, his spotty relationship with his dad, and seeing his friends’ lives fall apart right in front of him.

However, some songs are about positive things such as finally making it and starting a family. As Rod Wave looks to leave his old life in the past he shifts his focus to making money and expressing his feelings through his songs.

One song in particular that stands out to me is “5% Tints.” Throughout the song Rod Wave discusses his confusion with our society, life moving so fast, and “staring at the world through his rearview.”

This song really triggers certain feelings that open your eyes to the world, showing that all you need in this life is yourself. Another song that stands out is “I Remember.”

In “I Remember,” Rod Wave speaks on all his struggles throughout his life, stating “I remember my first show, I remember who booked me.” Rod also mentions how he remembers all those who doubted him and hoped he never made it big. Rod also talks about remembering his mom visiting him in jail, telling him that the blame was on him.

“Smile” is a happier song. “Smile” is about Rod saying he finally has a smile for all his frowns. He talks about wanting to start a family and buy a house.

The most upbeat song on the album was “Sack Right” (featuring Yo Gotti). “Sack Right” is an upbeat song mostly about money. Both Rod and Yo Gotti have goals of getting more money.

Overall, the messages the album gives off are not great. It is filled with a lot of sadness and anger. Not to mention harsh language. However, if you are able to look past that, I think you will come to find that this album is truly beautiful and serves as therapeutic, knowing that someone else is going through the same pain you may be. Review: 10/10.
