Many fans are upset at how many times DC switches its actors as it is impossible to establish a cinematic universe like their long-time rival Marvel has done.

With these concerns aside critics have said that the new star Pattinson did a tremendous job filling the shoes of his predecessors and adding a new light to the legendary character “Robert Pattinson brought something different to this character that really stood out. I really loved this film” said Justin Brown: via Rotten Tomato.

The film also stars Zoe Kravitz as Cat Woman, Andy Sergis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. The film’s musical score was fantastic and added much to the film.

The film features the song Something In The Way by Nirvana which is Bruce Wayne’s theme song for the film and after the release of The Batman the 35-year-old song immediately blew up in popularity.

The Batman’s theme by Micheal Giaccino was the perfect instrumental to highlight the menacing persona of Batman. The film’s three-hour runtime may be a turnoff, but every minute of the film felt necessary to the plot and the pacing of the film is near perfect.

The film begins with the battle-hardened Batman, who has been Batman for over two years, following Officer James Gordon into the crime scene of the Riddler’s first victim, the mayor of Gotham.

The crime scene is littered with clues and riddles left behind by the Riddler; it is up to Batman and the Gotham PD to decipher the clues and stop the Riddler.

The Riddler himself is a very advanced character and is a very modern villain. The Riddler’s motivation is the corruption of Gotham’s leaders such as the mayor, the DA, and the police commissioner who all were involved in a staged drug bust to boost their political careers.

The Riddler exposes them to the public in an effort to cleanse the city of Gotham of its sins. The viewer is also exposed to the criminal underworld of the city which is run by Kingpin Carmine Falcone and his right-hand man: The Penguin.

Without spoilers the ending was fantastic and we see Batman transfer from a symbol of fear to the criminals of Gotham to a symbol of hope for the fearful citizens of the city.

Warner Brothers and director Matt Reeves did a great job making the movie realistic and they made it seem like the events of the film could be happening in some American city.

Reeves wanted the city of Gotham to feel like a real city as they have history, celebrities, and politics, and it is not just a superhero playground as Marvel’s New York City is “I wanted it to feel like an American city you’d never been to” (Matt Reeves).

With the new depiction of the Riddler as a vengeful serial killer, instead of a spandex-wearing prankster, the film is a lot more serious and much more realistic.

Additionally, Dano’s Riddler frequently uses social media and live streams to spread his message and amass a following to take over Gotham which is a very modern aspect.

Bruce Wayne is also a very complex character as he has been the Dark Knight for over two years and it has obviously taken a major toll on his life.

He lacks a social life and lives a very solitary life, unlike Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne who was a lot more fun-loving and extravagant man.

This take is a lot more realistic as someone who fights crime every night for two years would see plenty of horrors and would most likely not be the most normal or outgoing person.

Pattinson’s Batman is also limited technology-wise as he doesn’t drive around Gotham in a tank or a car that resembles a bat like his predecessors. It also appears that he crafted his own bat suit and gadgets.

This take of a self-made Batman adds to his charm and nonchalant persona. The realism of the film adds to its overall greatness and makes it one of the best superhero movies the world has seen.
