Central Catholic’s FBLA Chapter Shines Bright with Record-Breaking Success

When students around Central discuss their favorite extracurriculars, FBLA is certainly at the forefront of the conversation.

The Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference (SLC) concluded on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, with an exhilarating showcase of talent, innovation, and leadership.

The event, held in Hershey, PA, brought together more than 5,000 of the state’s most promising young business minds for a series of competitions, workshops, and networking opportunities.

The PA FBLA SLC, an annual gathering of students from across Pennsylvania, serves as a platform for budding entrepreneurs and business enthusiasts to demonstrate their skills, exchange ideas, and learn from industry professionals.

This year’s conference surpassed all expectations, leaving participants and attendees inspired and eager to make their mark on the business world.

The highlight of the conference was the impressive array of competitions, where students had the opportunity to showcase their expertise in various business-related disciplines.

From marketing and finance to entrepreneurship and public speaking, the participants demonstrated exceptional talent and creativity, making the judging process a challenging task for the panel of esteemed industry experts.

Beyond the competitions, the conference offered an extensive lineup of workshops and seminars, providing students with valuable insights and knowledge to augment their business acumen.

Industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and seasoned professionals shared their experiences, offering valuable advice and mentorship to the next generation of business leaders.

Central Catholic’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter qualified 56 students for the State Leadership Conference. At the conference, Central Catholic was recognized as the sixth-largest chapter in Pennsylvania with 116 members with a 17.21% market share.

The following students took home top individual honors: Matthew Aluise, ’25, Nicholas Athanassiou, ’26, Anthony Frank, ’23, Maxwell Kimbrough, ’23, Noah Mason, ’23, Charles Mehta, ’23, Cole Nix, ’23, Gabe Primrose, ’23, Jack Sabo, ’23, Dante Scalise, ’23, Shreyas Sengupta, ’25, and Matthew Weber, ’25.

Many of the individuals also qualified to attend the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA this summer.

In addition to Central Catholic’s many event winners, Jack Sabo ’23 completed his term as State President, Executive Committee Chairman, and a voting member of the Board of Directors.

In these roles, Jack is responsible for setting a $6 million annual budget, guiding organizational policy, advising on key governance issues, leading two teams of dedicated student leaders, and conducting performance evaluations of the organization’s employees.

Jack received the Who’s Who in Pennsylvania FBLA Award and a $3000 William Seldon Scholarship for his dedication to the organization.
