“Free Guy” was released on August 13, 2021, and features Ryan Reynolds as the main character.  The genre of this movie is action/comedy.

On IMDB, this movie got a rating of 7.4/10.  The main character “Guy” is a programmed human in a sandbox video game like Grand Theft Auto.

He starts as an ordinary man that begins to develop artificial intelligence in him.  The movie goes on and the “Guy” ends up fighting the “villain” in the movie.

I thought the movie had an excellent good plot and did a quality job explaining the video game and how real humans can play: one character, Millie,  interacts with “Guy” as if she were playing a video game.

I also thought it was suitable how they included live streamers from Twitch, YouTube, etc. to make the video game seem realistic and add excitement to the movie.

They added a scene that referenced Marvel and included a cameo by Chris Evans (Captain America). The movie also referenced Star Wars by giving “Guy” a lightsaber. The movie pulls from numerous pop culture references, adding credibility to its world building.

Personally, I would give this movie a 10/10 and would recommend it to anyone who has not seen it yet.
