The Central Catholic Vikings have started there 2025 season with a record of 5-1-2. The Vikings have shown intensity, discipline, and early success showing this season could be one to remember.
The team has already notched a statement win against Wheeling Park ranked third in West Virginia and drew a tie against Plum which were the WPIAL runner ups in the 2024 season.
This early success is no accident. The Vikings’ off-season was marked by hard work, strategic changes, and a cultural shift that has been years in the making. Under the culture change from Head Coach Bryan Fegley, the soccer program has been focused on rebuilding and instilling a culture of accountability.
“The real changes Coach Fegley has made are starting to show,” said senior midfielder Roan Griffin. “Our team had a different unity and feeling this preseason. We’ve put in so much work, and it’s been paying off early this season.”
Senior midfielder Griffin Burns also stated “We’ve had a different approach, and it just feels like the rest of the guys want to win really badly—which has been different from past years.”
The teams chemistry has been evident early on with sharp communication in the midfield and improved defensive shape, the Vikings have approached every match with a purpose and perseverance.
Central Catholic is ready to compete with the best teams in District 7. The Vikings have their eyes on a deep playoff run a possibly a WPIAL championship.
