Aidan O’Shane

While senior Aidan O’Shane can frequently be found penning an article for The Viking Newspaper, we thought it important to bring him into the spotlight for one final time.

Upon graduating this May, Aidan is staying close to home; he will be studying Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh. When you can’t find Aidan in a classroom, chances are he’s out on the ice.

Aidan has been a consistent starter on the ice hockey team, having led the Vikings to the championship game as their captain this year. In addition, Aidan is a four-year member of the Culture Club.

This past month, Aidan completed his Senior Thesis, the capstone project of the Brother David S. Baginski, FSC Scholars Program.

Aidan’s paper, which received an award for Outstanding Thesis, was focused on the revitalization of digital democracy and the urgent need to decentralize the internet.

Aidan’s fondest memory at Central Catholic was the senior Scholars’ trip to Fallingwater and Ohiopyle, as he reflects, “It was great to get away from school for a day and just have some fun with an awesome group of guys.”

When asked for some words of wisdom to impart to the underclassmen, Aidan’s response was a classic: cherish your time at Central.

Thinking back on his four years, Aidan reminisces, “I can’t believe my four years are almost up. It feels like yesterday that I walked through those doors as a scared freshman.”

While Aidan may be leaving the halls of 4720 Fifth Avenue in the coming month, teachers and students alike will always remember his kindness, leadership, and easy-going attitude.
