Tensions started when the U.S. military struck Venezuelan boats in the Caribbean carrying Cocaine and Fentanyl on September 2nd, President Trump said.
Trump claims the people on the boats were part of the world’s most violent organized crime gang Tren de Aragua. This has been going on for weeks and in the most recent air strike on Venezuelan drug boats there were 2 survivors.
Later the Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, was accused of ordering the strike to kill the 2 survivors. This has caused conflict in The U.S. with liberals saying it was a war crime and republicans saying it was lawful.
Following this the U.S. military stationed warships off the coast of Venezuela creating an escalation. After this the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro said he has complete loyalty to the Venezuelan people and will not back down to the ongoing threat. He also said The U.S. is a “colonialist threat” in Latin America as millions in Venezuela remain on edge.
So, Venezuela goes to get help from it’s Allies getting help from Russian military advisors, military aircraft, intelligence support, and Russian war ships.
President Trump ended up threatening the Venezuelan President Maduro by saying leave now or else. This conflict could possibly be a major problem in the world.
