Our Beloved Wednesday Mornings

The beloved Wednesday morning delays we had every week last year are gone, above the protestations of many in the student body. Now, you might be thinking, who cares about what they added … it’s dumb! You can deny it for as long as you want, but these block periods on Wednesday mornings are ultimately productive. You can sign up for a variety of things, from quiet study hall to frisbee with Mr. Thomas to ping pong with Mr. Krotec. One good thing for the advocates of the Wednesday delays is that we get a delay every 4 weeks, which is something to look forward to.

After the first several weeks of the block periods, they have gone very well and been very productive. If you need to write a history paper, you can sign up for History Study Hall, if you need to finish your college applications or essays you can sign up for College Applications with Ms. Pogue, and if you need to satisfy some missed-breakfast hunger you can sign up for Cooking Club with Mrs. Schultz. Needless to say, the clubs and activities available to sign up for are numerous and wide-ranging. Now, you’re probably still thinking: why was having delays such a bad idea? It’s not that they were bad, but these Wednesday activities are a better outcome and improve our overall productivity.

One disadvantage of having these new activities is that students no longer get to sleep in for those two extra hours anymore. It’s a shame, I know, but it’s the price we pay to become a more productive school. That’s the only disadvantage with these block periods. So don’t pout about the new Wednesday schedules, instead go sign up and enjoy yourself! If you sign up for something you like or want to try, you won’t be let down.
