Behind The Scenes of the VNN

The Viking News Network (VNN) has been a part of Central Catholic’s everyday morning routine. After the prayer and Pledge of Allegiance, students and teachers tune in to the VNN to catch the morning’s news and announcements. While students watch the VNN every day, there are certain things that go on before the episode airs for the whole school to watch.

Mr. Carlson, the Viking News Network’s faculty moderator, had a lot to say about the preparation that each show requires. “The VNN is for students who need to know announcements, notices, clubs, and cancellations for Central Catholic.”

Mr. Carlson discussed his role as faculty moderator, noting, “I have a passion for production, being creative, and working together as a team.”

In order for each show to run successfully, the VNN team: 1. Makes the stream, 2. Loads the script, 3. Practices the script with anchors, and 4. Records live.

When asked about the long-term vision of the Viking News Network, Mr. Carlson was excited: “I hope that the VNN will be broadcasted in different locations everywhere and that the VNN will get new members. I’d also like to get a more student involvement in the shows.”

The VNN is broadcasted in every homeroom from the Central Catholic YouTube page. For any questions about the VNN or if you want to get involved with this activity, please contact Mr. Carlson or stop by the VNN room located in the library.
