An Interview with Senior Mike Price

Michael “Secret” Price is one of our many saddened seniors at Central. Mike is known to many as “Big Mike” or “Price”, but preferably “Price”.

Mike’s roots are in Shaler off of Route 8, and attended the infamous St. Bonaventure Grade School. Mike enjoyed the people there, but was annoyed by many of the teachers and was not a fan of the girls in his grade.

Mike graduated from St. Bonaventure’s and attended Central Catholic for a few reasons, but mainly due that it was superior to Shaler Area School in many categories. He loved Central and feels that, “It’s a great academic school, but has poor policies.”

Price enjoyed “Bonus Days” with Mr. Kro and Brother Kevin’s religion class, and two of his favorite teachers were Big Daddy Cool Dawg and Mr. Brown.

Price said he has had a plethora of memorable events and times during his last four years at Central, but winning the WPIAL championship, KAIROS, and just hanging out in the football locker room were among his favorites.

Some fun activities and clubs he took part in were the football team, fly fishing club, science bowl, National Honor Society, and tutoring freshman with Mrs. Lynch.  Price also shared that he only went to one “dance” while at Central, and that was the freshman mixer.

I asked if one of those reasons were because he went to an all-boys school, and of course he said yes, but he didn’t mind all too much, “It’s cool not to be distracted during the day, but it could hurt us later in college or when we have to work with women.” He would go on to say that without a doubt “Noah Drake” is the funniest “dude” in his graduating class. One of his funniest moments was when Noah Drake made the rule that you cannot eat without a “Bev”.

Price has a future planned out at the moment but before he can start his professional career or college, he has to graduate. Price was open about his class of 2020’s situation and optimistic.

He is glad that school is trying to reschedule graduation and hopes could possibly have the senior mixer and/or the faculty vs. students basketball game. In the fall, Price is going to attend Penn State University planning to study engineering.

He and a half dozen other Vikings will be Nittany Lions next year. As of right now he will be going there for just four years, and is unsure if he would like to participate in Greek life, but is very open to it. Funny enough, Penn State wasn’t originally his first choice, Pitt was. After thinking more about the schools and possible future situations he felt PSU was a better fit for him.

During our interview, we started to stray away from his school life and future plans to talk more about him outside of school. Price has a job at the Giant Eagle in McCandless. When he is not working, he likes to fish and “Vibe with the boys around a fire.”  Price said he is not the best fisherman with his best catch being a 13-inch trout.

Price also wanted to include that his dream wife is Madison Beer, only ever shaving once, and wanting to be the CEO of Prestige World Wide. Overall,  I enjoyed interviewing Mike Price, and I just hope you as a reader know the importance of having a “Bev” with your food.
