It is no secret or a surprise to say that the coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused havoc and difficulties in everyone’s lives these past two to three months. Between school closures and the absence of sports, we Americans are left with too many questions and not enough answers.

People of all age groups and demographics are all being affected by this in a negative way. High School students and especially seniors have to now live with the fact that their senior prom and graduation ceremony will now be delayed, push-backed, and possibly even canceled for the remainder of the year. Many adults and people in the workforce are now unemployed and left in a spot where it’s hard to provide for themselves and their families.

COVID-19 has left us and many others to delay and pause certain events and activities in hopes that we will all be able to enjoy and participate in these activities sometime in the near future. Many major sports leagues and associations are losing more and more money every day with the pause of sports in the world.

The word  “Olympics” has even been delayed and put on hold for the time being while professionals work for a cure to the virus. Even movies that were expected to be released in the months of March, April, and May have to wait on their releases due to the closure of the cinemas.

High School sports and activities are also put on hold for the time being with the hope of a return as well.
As for the Central Catholic students and staff, these pushbacks and delays still remain up in the air. The senior graduation ceremony at Soldiers and Sailors has been rescheduled for sometime in the summer, not completely canceled.

As for prom, it is still unclear on whether that will be rescheduled for the time being, but for now there is no prom for this year. Central’s athletics and sporting events have also been put on pause with the hopes of finishing the seasons at some time in the future.

As one can see, these delays and pushbacks still haven’t been fully confirmed on when certain things will resume. These are just assumptions based on everyone’s best guesses on when this return to “normalcy” and safety comes back.

For us students, we can only sit back and be grateful for how great of a job Central has prepared and took action against these actions that unfolded rapidly. Either way, we can just hope that this pandemic is over soon and all of us can enjoy the things we loved doing on a normal and regular basis and hope to be back here a Central come the end of August.
