During my twelve years of skiing, I have been to many different ski resorts. Some are great and some are not so great.

But for people who are looking to ski somewhere, that will be fun and easy I can recommend some great places.

My first choice would be Nemacolin Resort and Spa which is located in Fayette County about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Pittsburgh.

The beautiful Laurel Mountains of Fayette County make it a perfect place to ski.

It’s at the top of the mountains making for great slopes to ski. There are currently six slopes and twenty-five acres of downhill skiing with three lifts to make sure there is never a long line to wait in.

They also provide a great skiing lodge to relax and dine in after skiing. In the lodge, there is an arcade, bowling alley, and a restaurant.

But that’s not all, Nemacolin offers townhomes to stay in on the property, two five-star hotels, a paintball course, a zoo, a golf course, a Jeep, and four-wheeler off-roading, and snow tubing. I have done all of these activities and had nothing but a great experience.

My second recommendation to ski is Peak-n-Peak located in Clymer, New York. The drive from Pittsburgh is around two hours.

It’s a long drive but worth it. The reason I say this is because of the number of things and spectacular slopes.

There are 130 acres in total and twenty-six slopes to explore and five terrain parks for people looking to get creative. Offering different levels of difficulty so no matter if you’re just starting to ski or already good at skiing there is a slope that will challenge you.

For the people looking to stay overnight at the resort, there is a four-star hotel with great food and atmosphere. For guests who are looking to not just ski there are other things like a dual zipline, aerial adventure course, and snow tubing.

These are my top resorts to ski that are in close proximity to Pittsburgh and are packed with adventures beyond skiing. I guarantee a great time for the novice to the expert skier in the family at these locations.
